Can You Drop Off Usps At Ups In 2022? (Your Full Guide)
Perhaps you’ve heard of FedEx/USPS Business Partnership, which was established in 2001.
However, what do you think about UPS and USPS. Do they have any working partnership where the two can be used somewhat interchangeably?
Is it possible to drop USPS packages at UPS? Have you ever been able to do so? This is what I found.
What is the best way to get USPS from UPS 2022?
Customers should not drop their USPS package with UPS at this time, except if the shipper is part of UPS Mail Innovations returns program. UPS can still get your packages to the USPS if you drop off a wrong parcel.
What happens when you place a USPS parcel in an UPS DropBox?
The short answer is that your package should be returned to USPS within a reasonable time, although it may take up to a few additional business days.
It is also possible that the package may be lost or stolen while being shipped.
But let’s back up.
Assume you are busy running around to get shipments, but you forget to drop off a USPS shipment at the local UPS drop box.
As reaching in to the bin is dangerous, UPS will make sure it gets the shipment to the shipper.
Good news! UPS usually delivers as scheduled, with little interruption to your expected delivery date.
Because these types of errors are much more prevalent than you might imagine.
And in order to handle these common mistakes, all the major shippers – UPS, FedEx, USPS – have made it part of their routine to go collect packages meant for themselves.
What if it’s intentional? Do you believe the shippers can be interchangeable?
It’s not possible. You may continue to have success with UPS, but you will eventually inconvenience the recipient.
You can safely add an extra day to allow for time required to transfer ownership from UPS to USPS.
And in fact, the transfer might take even longer; so you’re just prolonging your recipient’s wait time.
It is worse because you don’t have proof of ownership or receipt for your parcel when it drops off at UPS.
The UPS mistakenly drops off a package and it goes missing. It’s almost impossible to get the package back. The usual routes for finding it, like its travel history and other avenues of contact are not available.
So, ultimately the wisest course of action, both for yourself and your recipient, is to cut out the middleman (UPS) and just drop off your USPS packages with USPS.
The system will scan them faster, and it will be easier for you to locate them.
Is it possible to put the USPS package in UPS Access Point
UPS Access Points are not an alternative to dropping off a parcel at the Post Office.
UPS Access points – UPS-partner businesses and others who can accept UPS packages to drop off and pick up – are manned service desks.
To pick one up, you just need to go to the customer service desk.
Although it is easy to accidentally drop off USPS packages in UPS drop boxes, there are less chances of the parcel being accepted by UPS Access Point personnel.
Unless the associate really isn’t paying attention, they’re going to catch that you’re attempting to use the wrong shipper.
Especially since a USPS barcode is not the same as a UPS one.
Is it possible to drop a UPS box at the Post Office?
As I mentioned, the shippers aren’t interchangeable, but experience has led them to assume that mistakes will be made and their packages are going to end up in each other’s hands.
You can also expect the Postal Service to deliver your UPS box back the way it was when you dropped it off.
UPS will eventually come and get their wayward parcels, but until they do, that box is in la-la-land, untraceable and untrackable.
There is an exception to this rule: Don’t leave your UPS boxes unattended at the Post Office.
And that is if you are the recipient of a parcel from a sender who participates in the UPS Mail Innovations Returns.
This program is designed for frequent shippers.
The latest version of UPS Returns Flexible Access, a 2010 program that was launched in the US, appears to have been this one.
You can return the packages at any Post Office, provided the recipient has paid for the label.
Or, you can leave the item in the mailbox to be picked up by the mail carrier.
The best part is that, with this program, the parcel is scanned into the system upon receipt and it’s fully trackable on its journey back.
But this is the only case where it is advisable to turn in a UPS package to the Postal Service.
Our posts include information regarding theft of USPS parcels, FedEx vs USPS and how USPS packages may be insure.
Customers should not use UPS to receive their USPS parcels, regardless of how convenient.
Although UPS and USPS are capable of delivering parcels one to another, they can’t trace them until the right shipper scans them in their systems. This makes them highly vulnerable.
Do I have to Bring Up Usps for the Guys?
Yes. USPS labels can be dropped off at UPS branches.
Are There Any Prepaid Usps Products I Can Drop Off?
You can drop your package at any USPS location without having to wait in line if it has domestic shipping labels. You can drop your packages off at the blue mailboxes or Post Office drop boxes if they fit. Some Post Offices may also have a designated spot on the counter for prepaid packages.Apr 21, 2017
